She is a 10 week old Hungarian Vizsla who belongs to our head of PE here Mr Veares. Mango is set to become our Hornchurch High School Wellbeing dog so is on site today to socialise with some of the children and start becoming accustomed to life on site. Mango is the puppy of a current wellbeing dog; this breed lends itself to being caring and affectionate and often gets nicknamed ‘Velcro Vizsla’ due to the breeds friendly and attentive nature. She is currently being trained and in 2 weeks has already mastered Sit, Wait, Down and Settle, she will continue her training with the long term goal of being here on site 5 days a week and working with our wellbeing team for 1-1 sessions focusing on things like calmness and anxiety and sit and listen sessions for literacy. She is also going to be a welcome member of the team for the staff here at Hornchurch High who are already lining up to take her for walks during breaks in the day.

Dear Parents/Guardians, As I am sure you are well aware the GCSE exam season is starting next week for our Yr 11 pupils. To ensure we give them the best opportunity of a successful exam window we are going to revert back to our COVID rules for PE kit. Pupils will need to attend school during this time wearing PE kit on days when they have practical PE lessons. This is to ensure our Yr 11 pupils are not disturbed at the start or end of lessons by pupils using the changing rooms. This arrangement will continue until all GCSE and internal exams are completed. Thank you for being understanding and supportive. Mr Neill
Dear Parent/Carer We are in the process of arranging a Careers Insight Day on Friday 15th July 2022. One of the many activities that we are looking to put on for our students is a Careers Speed Dating Event for our Year 7 and 8 students. The idea behind this event would be to provide students with an in-depth overview of the wider world of employment within a range of employment sectors. We are looking for around 25-30 volunteers that would be willing to come into school on Friday 15th July 2022 between 8:30-11am to talk to groups of students about their careers and background in employment/education. If your are willing and able to give up a couple of hours of your time to support this event please contact Mrs L. Hurrell (lhurrell@hornchurchhigh.com) Should you wish to discuss this matter in further detail I will be happy to speak with you in more depth via the above contact methods. Many thanks in advance for your support. We look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter. Yours faithfully Mr Evans
