Jewellery and Hair
The only jewellery permitted is a wristwatch. Any piercings, must be carried out at the start of the 6 week summer holiday and removed before the start of the September term. Plasters over piercings and see through ‘transparent’ piercings are not permitted under any circumstances.
Nail varnish or acrylic nails are not permitted and no form of make-up should be visible.
Hair should be on natural colour. Any dyed hair must also be of a colour that only could naturally grow. Hair should not be shaved below a ‘Number 2’ grade. No lines, patterns or additional shavings in one’s hair or eye-brows are permitted.
Items not permitted
Please do not be swayed by the comment ‘but everyone else does’ – this is not the case. In reasonableness, we acknowledge that accidents can happen (eg a lost tie) and uniform becomes incomplete. In such circumstances, a note from the parent to the student’s form tutor explaining the situation keeps everyone informed. Jewellery is not allowed for several reasons; health and safety, risk of loss and a distraction from learning.
The following clothing items are not permitted:
- Denim style jackets
- Hoodies
- Boots, half-boots, trainers or plimsolls
- Converse type footwear
