Our school motto is ‘excellence for all.’ We offer a broad and balanced curriculum for our students, which will prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences ahead of them. On the one hand our curriculum model requires all students to study a particular suite of subjects and activities. On the other, we set out to respond to the individual needs of our students. We do so by providing curriculum options and extra-curricular opportunities which allow them to tailor their learning to their skills, interests and preferences.
Our formal teaching curriculum (of 25 hours per week) is just one element in the education of our students. We consider the process of learning to encompass all of the time our students are in school, rather than consisting solely of their formal lessons. With this in mind, we run a variety of breakfast, break time and after school clubs. We have also added a small number of ‘Drop Down Days’ into our school year so students can extend their knowledge, understanding and skills as part of their wider development. These days give us the opportunity to focus on PSHE-related themes in an intensive fashion.
