Dear Colleagues, Families and Friends,
As we get near to the end of 2019 I have been thinking about how much we have achieved as a community over the past year!
Last January, we had a really positive report from Ofsted, who said that in so many ways our school was showing signs of being outstanding. We agreed with them then, and after the amazing results of year 11 in the summer, we have additional evidence to say that Hornchurch High School is on the road to Outstanding.
The multi million pound investments in the school began in the form of new roofs, new windows, new cladding, new garden areas, new fire alarm systems and security doors, and (best of all) a brand new building.
The current academic year has started very positively indeed with a huge increase in first choices for year 7 families, and additional students joining our community almost every week. The new building is almost complete, and we’ll be moving our classes in next February.
The year 11 students are sitting their mock exams at the moment and they have been revising hard so we are expecting good results from these exams before the final push towards the summer exam season. Every year group is settled, happy and thriving and so we are very pleased with 2019, and are looking forward to the Christmas holiday which is now only a few weeks away.
